Your SXSW surrogate here, braving the crowds so you don't have to. Here are 5 tips to a productive set of sessions. The overarching piece of advice: Don't stress, you can't go wrong if you just go with the flow.

  1. Know your sessions-- from Google founders to star content strategists, the featured sessions are the meat of your day. Those and the keynotes of course require some advanced planning. Other sessions called hackathons or workshops require reservations and may require hardware and software. While a few other types are topic based with but sizable TED-style talks.
  2. Travel in a pack if you can. It's always better to share the line time with a colleague or two. Plus you never know when nature calls and you'll want to reserve a chair.
  3. Bring your charger and keep a charge.
  4. Resist the urge to wear high heels or three piece suits.
  5. Don't pack your schedule. Timing is everything and you'll need enough time.
